We went to our favorite little restaurant in El Paso tonight, and this bottle came with us. This is a Chianti I have not had before, and I like it.
If you’re on the West side of El Paso, one would do well to find your way to Cafe Italia. It is a small, hole in the wall kind of place with a small menu (but done well) and only open five days a week.. The owner makes the mozzarella fresh every morning. The fact that it is a BYOB only kind of place fits perfectly.

I will try to remember that. The beauty of Chianti is that it’s all good. The only difference is how good.

Mostly beer, but I just did tequila shots with my bartender.

The Balvenie Double Wood.
It was a birthday gift from my wife a few years back.

Today’s my B-Day so I shared a cowboy ribeye with the kids and am now sipping on this.

Awesome!
That reminds me, I’m out scotch at the house and need to pickup another bottle sometime. Because I like my whiskey to taste like I just bit into a chunk of peet, I trend towards the Islay Scotches. Laphroaig 10 is my favorite.

Went out with my mom for her birthday, had a couple of strong (and very good) margaritas at a nearby Mexican joint.

Well if I had known you were in El Paso tonight...
(There’s another Cafe Italia on the east side, too, not from where I work, but I haven’t ventured there.)
How long are you in town for? And why for?

That Cafe Italia is owned by the same guy. He splits his time between the two of them, although I think his brother spends more time at the East side location.
I live up in one of the new subdivisions on the Texas side of Anthony, so we go to westside for most anything like shopping, eating out or the grocery store.

Huh. I thought you were in ABQ. Or am I right, and you recently relocated? We’ll have to meet up for a beer at some point.

Most certainly on the beer. I’m originally from Abq, but I’ve been in the the Las Cruces/ El Paso area since 2009ish. I do still spend a fair amount of time up North.
We’re actually planning on selling the house at the end of the year and moving back to Cruces. At the time we bought it, one of us worked in Cruces and the other in El Paso, so this new subdivision almost exactly in the middle was a nifty solution. Now that we both work in Cruces, there isn’t really a reason to live down here anymore. We’ll still be coming in to El Paso for pleanty of stuff, though.
